GPFCLL and District 6 to host State Tournament

Grosse Pointe Farms City Little League is proud to announce that District 6 won the bid to host the 2021 Michigan Little League State Tournament.  We are excited for the opportunity to welcome the top 16 teams from around the state to play for the title of State Champion starting July 17, 2021.

While there will be other state tournaments held for other age groups that we may host in other years, this specific tournament for the 12-year-old players is an honor a Little League District only gets every 16 years. The original district elected to pass on hosting this year, which opened the possibility for other districts to bid for the chance.

The Michigan Little League State Tournament has taken place every year since 1958, only missing once in 2020 due to Covid-19.  Grosse Pointe Farms City Little League has won the State tournament 3 times in 1995, 2002, and 2009.  District 6 participants have won an additional 12 State titles.  This is a Little League District’s first step on the road to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.  The winner from this tournament will head to Whitestown, Indiana, where they will compete to represent our region at the Great Lakes Regional Tournament.

We are looking forward to providing opportunities for local businesses to be a part of this exciting event for our community.  Watch for more details to be released about volunteering, as there will be lots of ways for individuals to be involved.
